The couple setting offers the opportunity to step out of the (often repetitive) daily routine of relationships together and to create a shared meta-level. From this top view from a distance, the first patterns can usually be quickly recognized, which, with a little expert support and consistent practice, can be transformed into new, healthier patterns that are more satisfactory for everyone involved.

When is the right time for professional support for couple dynamics?

Experience has shown that couples only contact me when the proverbial child has fallen into the well and they are already on the verge of separation. That's okay. We work with what you bring with you when you come.

At the same time, I would like to encourage you not to necessarily wait until it's five to 12, but instead to take advantage of the opportunity to ensure couples' hygienic health care in a more or less preventive manner. Many injuries such as verbal low blows, infidelities or excessive need for distance can be avoided if we talk about interests, needs and individual boundaries in good time. We can also clear up any tragic misunderstandings, which are completely normal in any communication but can quickly become established and then habitually reproduced, through the exchange and thus enable genuine understanding through clarity.

Do we as a couple need therapy, advice or coaching?

In general, you can proceed here according to the guidelines that apply to the overarching differentiation of the Services gilt.

As a brief guide before the initial consultation, I would classify it as follows:

  • A Couples therapy is necessary if
    • These are very serious incidents or problems
    • escalating conflicts occur regularly
    • It is not possible to grasp what the difficulties actually are
  • Couples counseling is recommended if there is a clearly defined challenge that needs to be analyzed and solved together
  • Couple coaching can be useful when it comes to dealing with a specific (action) situation while there is already agreement on the goal (outcome).
