Have a healing effect on existing disorders
In contrast to advice and coaching services, in therapy we deal with the treatment of already established patterns of disorders. These manifest themselves in the form of various symptom clusters in everyday life and make it more difficult or impossible.
The focus of therapy is on changing ritualized behavioral patterns and ways of experiencing things. The complexity is particularly high here: thinking, feeling and acting influence each other and usually all three levels are affected.
“Disorders of illness value” have a pronounced system-immanent logic and rigid structure. Dissolving these comes with a special requirement. This is why psychological disorders (relationship disorders with oneself) or disorders within couple relationships or families are particularly often perceived as problems and no longer as a task.
Tasks are challenges that we are confident enough to overcome on our own. In contrast, in systemic counseling and therapy we define a problem as a task with at least three failed attempts at a solution.
If we notice that we have already failed several times at certain challenges, it may make sense to seek support as early as possible. Because with every further failed attempt, not only does the suffering from a problem prolong. Feelings of powerlessness and helplessness are also increasingly created, while self-confidence and self-efficacy are weakened.
